An Unwanted Kitten with a Birth Defect Found Love and Acceptance Thanks to a Kind-hearted Man
I have always had a soft spot for cats and find it baffling when people claim that a cat is unlovable or ugly. It reminds me of a time when my cousin and I stumbled upon a scruffy little kitten. Despite his unkempt appearance and one-eyed gaze, I couldn’t resist offering him some affection. My cousin, on the other hand, was repulsed. We were just kids back then, so I don’t blame her for feeling that way.
I’ve always had a soft spot for animals in need, and even at a young age, I wanted to show them kindness, even if only for a moment. When we found the ginger kitten, we didn’t hesitate to help him. We told our grandma about the little guy, and she took us back to rescue him. After a visit to the vet, some eye care, and fur treatments, the once-shabby kitten, Giggy, transformed into the most lovable ginger cat in the village.
This experience is why I feel a connection to Arlo’s story. Arlo, a kitten with a physical deformity, faced the prospect of being overlooked for adoption due to his appearance. Despite his imperfections, he had just as much love to offer as any other cat. The question remained, would he ever find a home that would appreciate his unique beauty and loving nature?

Arlo came into this world with a unique look due to a facial defect, making him stand out from other felines. Despite his appearance, he ended up at an adoption center with hopes of finding a loving home. One of the staff members at the center described him as a loving and mischievous cat who is full of fun.
Arlo has a condition called hydrocephalus, which can impact a cat’s brain and give him his distinctive appearance. Despite this condition, vet exams have confirmed that he is in good health and just needs a caring family to take him in.
After considering getting a pet cat, Davy, who works as a social worker for children with disabilities, found himself drawn to the idea of sharing his rural cottage with a furry companion. Despite initially thinking an older cat would be ideal, his friends began to tag him in posts about a special cat with additional needs in search of a forever home. Intrigued, Davy contacted the shelter and arranged to meet this one-year-old cat named Arlo, who was indeed one of a kind. Although typically shy, Arlo immediately connected with Davy in a way that felt meant to be.

Arlo gently nuzzled up to Davy and gave his hand a lick, as if they had just found a new best friend in each other.

Davy accompanied him to his initial trip to the vet post-adoption, and he showed remarkable courage. He was well-behaved during the visit and subsequently flourished in his new environment.

Arlo has a mischievous side as he loves to play games of hide and seek with Davy’s belongings around the house. His top pick for items to hide happens to be Davy’s cozy slippers.
